In Optuma, a strategy is a self-contained set of rules for acting — entry, exit, position sizing, and risk (for example, a trend-following strategy on large-caps, or a mean-reversion strategy on high-volatility names). Optuma offers five strategy types: Long, Short, Rebalance, Active Tilt, and Buy & Hold. A model is a collection of strategies with rules for when each one is active — momentum in trending regimes, defensive positioning when volatility spikes, value after deep drawdowns — and you set a script that controls when each strategy activates.
Every Optuma plan, except for Charts, includes access to the model builder. Connecting models to live portfolios is available only through the Portfolio and Enterprise plans.
