How Do I Use a Proxy Server?

By Optuma Team · Updated 2021-08-24

In many working environments, direct internet access from desktop PCs is not permitted and all internet-related traffic must pass through a Proxy Server to bypass these firewalls. If you are using Optuma in such an environment follow these steps to allow Optuma to make use of your Proxy Server.

Please ensure the Optuma can access the internet using port 80. If you are using the live chat functionality in Optuma you also need to allow Optuma to communicate over port 5222.

Start Optuma and click the Server Settings option on the login screen.

The proxy server settings will appear. Fill out the proxy settings for your working environment and then click the Back button.

The Proxy Server can be an IP address or a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) e.g. proxy.domainname.com.

You may need to ask your Systems/Network Administrator for your proxy username and password. If you don’t use a proxy username and password just leave those fields blank.

Once complete, click the Back button to return to the login screen and click the Login button.
