Depth Chart

Overview

Where Market Depth (Level II) data is available from the live data provider then a Depth chart can be accessed in Optuma.

To open a Depth chart go to the New menu, select Live then Depth Chart.

Depth Chart Components

The Depth Chart is made up of three sections, the first section is the Quote Screen underneath this is the Buyers and Sellers followed by the Market Detail.

Quote Screen

This section displays the current price and volume information for the selected security.

This Quote Screen can be disabled from the Properties menu, removing it from the Depth Chart. It is also possible to alter the Quote Screen font size.

Buyers and Sellers

This section displays the current table of Buyers and Sellers as well as the price and quantity of shares they are wanting to trade.

This section cannot be disabled but the font size can be adjusted from the Properties menu.

Market Detail

This section displays a breakdown of a selected depth level.

For example, if there are five people wanting to purchase a total of 500,000 shares at $40.00 each, the Market Detail window will show you the quantity each of those five people are after.

The Market Detail window can be disabled from the Properties menu.

Actions

Clone Chart: When selected an exact replica of the existing Depth chart will be created.

Print Chart: Opens the page in a PDF document, which can then be printed.

Restore Default Settings: Click this action if you have adjusted the default settings of the Depth chart, and wish to return to the standard properties originally installed with Optuma.

Save Settings as Default: If you have adjusted any of the Depth chart’s properties you can save the adjustments as your new default setting. Each time you open a new Depth chart it will display using the new settings.

Send To: This option allows the current Depth chart to be saved as either an image file or saved to the clipboard. If you have Professional Services then the additional options of sending the chart via Chat Message, to Word and Outlook are also available.

Properties

Show Depth Detail: When selected the Market Detail window will be displayed.

Show Quote: When selected the Quote section will be displayed at the top of the Depth chart.

Depth Font Size: Sets the size of the font for the Buyers and Sellers. To adjust the font size, click and drag the slider, left to make the text smaller or right to make the text larger.

Quote Font Size: Sets the size of the font for the Quote section. To adjust the font size, click and drag the slider, left to make the text smaller or right to make the text larger.

Stay On Top: When selected the Depth chart will remain on top when tiled with multiple charts on the same page.
